Welcome to "Young Ideas for Europe"!
Through the Young Ideas for Europe initiative, we are giving young people from across the European Union the opportunity to play an active role in the European decision making process.

- Christian Hänel
Enthusiasm for the European Idea; interaction and exchange across borders; forging a common understanding among citizens – these are goals we must not let out of our sights, let the process of European integration come to a standstill. It is particularly important to motivate and mobilize young people to take part in this process, to develop their own concepts and visions for a peaceful European coexistence. Young people are not suffering from Europe- or political-fatigue. Quite the contrary! But they do need the opportunity and the space to participate, to debate and above all to be heard.
With Young Ideas for Europe, we are providing just such an opportunity. We are giving young people a chance to play a real role in Europe's political, economic and social development. We are providing them with both an actual forum and a virtual one with which to exchange and debate their ideas. At the same time we are offering them a true dialogue with policy-makers, because to be heard means to be taken seriously.
At the same time, Young Ideas for Europe provides an opportunity for European policy-makers – for them to hear the concerns and ideas of their young constituents, and to integrate them into their work. A democratic, peaceful and united Europe can thrive only with the participation of its citizens – including its youth!
I am therefore enthusiastic about Young Ideas for Europe, and wish the participants the best of luck as this exciting and productive process unfolds over the weeks and months ahead.
Sincerely,
Christian Hänel
